Supporting local businesses and bringing our community together makes Broadstone a great place to be.
Local businesses came together at Broadstone Golf Club on 14 October to learn more about MYTIME Young Carers and how employers can help young people take their first steps into working life.
Building strong local connections is about more than doing business. It is also about understanding the challenges people face and finding ways to make a difference in our community.
That was one of the important messages from the latest Broadstone Business Community meeting, attended by Jo Perrett and Mirela Constantin from HGW Solicitors on Wednesday 14 October.
The meeting brought local businesses together for a morning of networking and discussion, with a presentation from Kirsty Rafferty of MYTIME Young Carers.
Creating opportunities for young carers
Starting a career can be challenging for any young person, but for those with caring responsibilities, the path into employment can be particularly difficult. Balancing responsibilities at home with education, work experience and the search for a first job can create additional pressures.
Kirsty spoke about the work of MYTIME Young Carers and the importance of helping young people build confidence, develop skills and access opportunities that support their future.
It was a valuable reminder that employers can make a difference by understanding individual circumstances and creating more inclusive opportunities for young people to succeed.

Why supporting our local business community matters
Local businesses play an important role in making Broadstone a thriving place to live and work. By coming together, sharing knowledge and building relationships, we can learn from one another and discover ways to support the wider community.
As a sponsor of Broadstone Business Community, HGW Solicitors is proud to support these connections. The meetings provide an opportunity to meet other local professionals, hear about worthwhile initiatives and strengthen relationships within the business community.
