HGW’s Family team have become Partners of the Voices in the Middle project of the Kids in the Middle charity. The firm has joined forces with the organisation which is spearheaded by young people, to share expertise and advice for families going through divorce and separation.
The digital support network Voices in the Middle – VoicesintheMiddle.org.uk targets children from 11 years and over and provides a dedicated ‘place to go’ for those who maybe experiencing their parents’ divorce. The website provides an opportunity for young people to share their stories and gain support from peers and other professionals in coping through all stages of their parental separation journey.
“In our role as Family Lawyers we see the affects divorce and separation brings upon families and we understand that children of divorce adjust much better when they are able to share their feelings,” comments Cath Porter, Senior Family Lawyer. “This may not always be easy for children who feel they are ‘stuck in the middle’ between conflicting parents. The Voices in the Middle project allows them to have a voice and express themselves, reducing conflict through the transitional process. This is a fantastic organisation to be involved with and we will be recommending the website to all the parents we work with.”
