HGW Support Local Unpaid Carers Initiative
Harold G Walker Solicitors have become the first legal firm to support Carers Card, a local unpaid carers initiative in recognition of their work within the community. The Dorset based scheme enables unpaid carers to take advantage of a free half-hour consultation with the firm’s team of professionals, providing advice and guidance on a variety of legal issues.
The scheme which was recently launched during Carers Week has approximately 6,000 unpaid carers signed up. The new initiative funded by local Councils aims to support carers to remain safe and healthy. It recognises their contribution and supports the development of Carer Friendly Communities. By registering, local unpaid carers will receive a free card enabling them to access discounts for goods and services for cooperating businesses across Dorset.
“We are proud to be the trailblazer for the legal sector supporting the Carers Card scheme. We feel it is important that carers feel valued and receive the recognition for the unpaid work they do,” comments Nicola Lowe, Managing Partner. She added, “We understand the vital role unpaid carers play in supporting our local community. By offering a free half-hour consultation Harold G Walker provide an opportunity for them to discuss a variety of issues they may be facing. Whether they would like to make a Will, seek guidance on Lasting Powers of Attorney or discuss paying for care, the friendly team of legal experts are there to provide support with clear impartial advice.”
