Storm Brian Forces Light up the Prom to be Postponed until Friday 10th November

Dangerously high winds and bad weather resulting from storm ‘Brian’ forced Royal Bournemouth Hospital to reschedule its remembrance fireworks display. The fundraising event which was due to take place on Friday evening at Bournemouth’s Pier Approach was regretfully postponed in the interest of safety. The infamous Light up the Prom event will now be postponed until Friday 10th November once again on Bournemouth’s seafront. Visitors who had already dedicated a light for the event were notified of the decision to postpone the evening and organizers apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused to others who were planning on attending the event.

Royal Bournemouth Hospital’s Corporate Fundraiser, Maria Tidy, said; “It’s disappointing that the event could not continue as planned but we’re determined to celebrate Light up the Prom with all our supporters on Friday 10th November. We hope as many people as possible are able to join us then.”

This year’s event is sponsored by local legal firm; Harold G Walker Solicitors. The firm’s Managing Partner, Nicola Lowe commented; “It’s unfortunate that we have had to reschedule the event. However this has provided another opportunity for those who have not done so already to dedicate a light in memory of a loved one. Lights are £5 each and can be purchased online at www.BHCharity.org/light-up. Alternatively, they can be bought from Bournemouth Hospital Charity Office or at any of Harold G Walker’s four offices in Broadstone, Christchurch, Verwood and Wimborne.”

This magical evening will begin with a single firework at 8pm, providing a signal for all ‘Light up the Prom’ lights to be switched on and for the two minutes silence to begin. The evening will then continue with a short fireworks display, followed by live entertainment from Bournemouth Male Voice Choir. All money raised will help support the tremendous work Royal Bournemouth Hospital continues to deliver within the local community.
